I must admit that I would have been very nervous to arrive in New Zealand as one of the first settlers. It must have been quite overwhelming for the men and women who first set foot on our shores and had to figure out how to find food, build shelters and establish communities for the very first time. In my opinion, they were true heroes. I can't imagine where we would be without them. Can you?
I hope that you enjoyed writing this poem. It can be a difficult task but you did a really nice job.
