Day #4: Swimming with the sharks
Activity 1:
The local people volunteered to help save the beached whales by getting buckets of water and pouring it onto the whales to help keep them stay cool and hydrated, while this was happening others were trying to carefully push the whales away from shore and into the water.
Activity 2:
Whale Rider
Summary:
This movie is about a young girl by the name of Paikea Apirana (“Pai”) who was originally born a twin, but her twin brother and her mother die in childbirth. In the story, the leader should be the first-born grandson - a descendant of Paikea, the Whale Rider, who rode on top of a whale. However, Pai is a female and in which her grandfather (Koro) does not want her to be recognised as the “Whale Rider” but soon he realises he was wrong.
I give this movie a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ five-star rating.

From my perspective:
I am very distraught because our dolphins are getting killed every year by the nets of fishermen and we are losing more and more of our dolphin species and also our other marine life as well so I think we need to ban fishing at Farewell Spit in order to save our marine life.
